Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II - Review / Lens Test

Now it's not overly surprising that the lens is capable of providing a very high quality based on a neutral shift setting. But what about the extremes then ? There is, of course, a decrease in image quality when shifting the image frame towards the edges of the image circle.

Game Changer

This lens has exceeded every expectation I had. Total game changer. I shoot architectural and real estate and I wish I added this lens to my collection a long tine ago.

A Strong Quality Product

[...]The lens is everything I expected after extensively researching different lenses and reviews. However, I did experience one event that nearly gave me a heart attack. While moving some of my gear around on Christmas Eve, my mother accidentally dropped this lens.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

My workhorse lens

I have owned this lens since it was first released a few years ago, and it is permanently attached to one of my 5D MKII's. As a dedicated architectural photographer, I use this lens for 90% of my commissioned work.

Superior build quality; Super-sharp images

Canon TS-E 24mm F3.5 L II Lens...

It has very precise depth, it definitely enhances creativity potentials. Definitely worth every cent spent on it!

Independent shift tilt; it has a great built quality with nice features; extended shifting capabilities

82mm filter and a very bulky lens cap and the lens is a bit heavy

A Canon Legend

The tilt and shift work independantly of each other.A special screen could be used for focusing but, I use a Hoodman loupe and "live view" . You will need one of the two in bright sunlight.

Challenging

As an amateur, this lens is challenging, but rewarding too. The shift effect makes panoramas and architectural shots with nice straight lines both very easy. Getting expanded depth of field shots is tricky, mainly due to focusing at both the far and near points while micro–adjusting the tilt...

My new (unexpected) Go-To Lens

Originally bought for the tilt novelty with only a marginal awareness of the shift attributes, this is now my favorite lens that I use to capture incredible distortion-free panoramas. I typically shoot landscapes and real estate, and this lens offers a range of view beyond anything I've seen.

Every Landscape Photographer should have one!

I wanted a lens that would give me edge to edge sharpness with little or no distortion ,and that I'd be able to continue using my Lee Filters, this is it! I have the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Lens , while its a great lens.
