Very happy with the results (35mm film at least). As mentioned else where, it is very much a dust magnet. So you need good dust management and "hygiene" (including the room you are working in) when handling film. I also bought a cover for protection when not in use.

Scanner is fast to warm up and fast to scan. Doing all my scans at double resolution or higher now because of speed. Epson scan software is straightforward. Have tried few negatives so far but with no problems. Speed is better than I expected.

I got this scanner for a huge family project to scan my late parents photos and negatives from the 1930s to the 2000's. I am actually scanning the bulk of prints for the 70s on with a Fujitsu ScanSnap.

I had been using an old Perfection 2450 to scan slides and negatives for creating photos to sell on Ebay. I was never happy with the scanned images which lacked the sharp definition of the original slides and negatives.

At last, a multifunction scanner that does an excellent job. Integrates well with Mac OSX and produces first rate results. Bundled OS software is not for Mac setup so requires on line access to Epson.

The great thing about this photo scanner is that it is clearly designed to excel at scanning photographs in just about every possible way. I'm pretty happy with this purchase but scanning slides is very time-consuming. The carrier tray only holds 12 at a time and you need to be careful inserting and removing them to not bend the clips or fingerprint the slides.

This scanner is more versatile than my old Nikon V. It also has equal or better specs. Putting all these scanning media options together in a flatbed is real bang for buck! One criticism.. and it isn't aimed specifically at Epson.. The majority of my most valuable work is B&W negative based.

Although the Epson Perfection V800 Photo ($739.99) is a flatbed scanner -and can scan photographic prints- its real value is as a film scanner. It can handle both positive and negative film (including slides) in sizes ranging from 35mm to as large as 8 by 10 inches.
