Fujinon XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS - Review / Lens Test Report

The Fujinon XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6-7 OIS is a good performer in relation to its price level. The results are mostly sharp in the image center. The corners aren't quite as snappy in the upper range but let's be fair - you don't tend to place the main subject of your scene into the extreme corners...

AF of this lens is quite slow if you want to take a moved object.

I want to use this lens to take photo of birds in my garden but birds always move quickly before the focus of this lens work. So I have to ask for birds to move slowly.

Better than I expected!

I have only used it for three weeks in the Northwest where the sun rarely comes out, so slow shutter and higher ISO was required. Hand held the IS really worked well. I also have a 35mm f1.4 that I use with my X-E2, so comparing edge sharpness should have been distingtly better with the 35mm, but it...

Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Lightweight; Nice Bokeh

OK, but has limitations.

Used this yesterday to try and take shots of a parade, it failed miserably, the auto focus just wasn't up to the job, most shots came out blurred. I've nothing but praise for it though if you're photographing static objects, does the job well then.

Fujifilm XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS

The Fujifilm XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS is a natural partner for the XC 16-50mm lens, offering good telephoto performance whilst being relatively small and light. The Fujifilm XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS is pleasingly sharp in the image centre at 50mm and 100mm, with performance starting to drop off from...

Fujifilm XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS II Lens XC50230 review

The Fujifilm Fujinon XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS II is an affordable telezoom for the X system, but its narrow f-stop limits use in dim light.

Ample telephoto reach; Reasonably sharp; Optically stabilized; Lightweight; Minimal distortion; Even illumination.

Some edge softness; Narrow maximum aperture; Omits weather sealing.

Fujifilm Fujinon XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS II Review

The Fujifilm Fujinon XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS II ($399) is the telezoom for X system owners who don't want to spend a lot of money on a long lens. The light zoom covers a long range, delivers reasonably sharp, although not impeccable, images, and is often available at a discount as part of a bundle. Its narrow aperture means that it's best used in sunlight, even with its stabilization system. If that covers your needs, it's a solid addition to a mirrorless camera kit. If you need a brighter zoom, Fuji offers the XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS for $700. Design The 50-230mm ($399.00 at Amazon) has a long reach—it captures the same field of view as a 75-345mm zoom in full-frame terms—but is fairly compact (4.4 by 2.7 inches, HD) and light (13.2 ounces). The barrel is plastic, which cuts down on weight, but feels sturdy. The front element supports 58mm filters, and a reversible plastic lens hood is included, along with front and rear caps. Fujifilm sells the lens in a black or silver ...

One of the great unsung heroes of the Fujinon lens lineup

At this price, you should be happy to get a mediocre telephoto beginner lens. You get so much more than that! Sure, the construction is all plastic, including, unfortunately, the mount.

to good to be true, or is it?

I was looking for a camera to complement my Nikon d7100s quality but in a small form factor . The fuji system is the answer to that sentence. All the newer fuji cameras have better high iso image quality then the 7100, this is not a lie, this is for real.
