Great lens with unique manual mode

Well constrctucted, optically great lens. Small, but hefty, nice wide angle. Fast, I like fast. I really like the way you snap the focus ring back and forth to engage and disengage manual focusing. AF works well for a Fuji X camera, (not good at AF). Love the lens.

Optics; speed; and construction

Some people thing it is an issue that the lens converts to manual mode differently is a issue; I don't

PERFECT

This lens coupled with the X-Pro1 delivers amazing results. Compact, light, and ergonomic to use. Absolutely perfect piece of image making technology!

another winner from Fuji

This is my second lens for my X-e1, after the wonderful 18-55mm zoom. It's sharp, almost a given with Fuji lenses I think, and the distortion, considering its a 14mm lens is quite minimal. I love the new sliding auto/manual focus ring and the hyper focus scale makes street photography easer.

Low Distoration; Sharp

None

Fujinon XF 14 mm f/2.8 R

Currently (October 2013) the Fujinon XF 14 mm f/2.8 R is a lens with the widest angle of view in the whole Fujifilm line-up, giving a field of view on a level of 90 degrees. Although the X system is relatively young our choice of lenses is quite rich, mainly because of the support from devices...

Stunning wide angle lens

Fuji has always made stunningly good lenses. I have several large format Fuji lenses that just wipe the floor with any lens except those that are 4x the price (and beats a few of those too.) This lens, and pretty much the whole Fujifilm XF line, continue the tradition.

crisp sharpness; contrasty; flare resistant; light

not as wide as I'd like; bigger than you might expect

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 14mm F2.8 R

Wide-angle shooters should take a close look at the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 14mm F2.8 R. This lens is quite good, but it is priced accordingly. The 21mm-equivalent prime lens is one that isn't available in competing mirrorless systems-Sony, Samsung, and Micro Four Thirds shooters all have access to...

Very sharp; Minimal distortion; Manual focus clutch; 7.1-inch close focus; Compact

Lacks optical stabilization; Aperture ring too easily turned; Pricey

The XF 14mm F2.8 R is a relatively rare example of a genuinely wideangle, high quality prime lens for any camera type other than full frame SLRs. The closest comparisons lie with the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm 1:2 for Micro Four Thirds and Pentax's smc DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited for its APS-C...

Extremely sharp across the frame at normal working apertures (F5.6 - F11; Minimal distortion; Minimal chromatic aberration; Well-implemented manual focusing; Quiet autofocus; Solid construction

Soft corners at F2.8; Moderately strong vignetting at F2.8 (corrected by camera's JPEG processing; Loose click-stops on aperture ring; No way of combining manual focus and autofocus; Slowish autofocus; Expensive

REVIEW: Fujifilm Fujinon XF 14mm f/2.8 R Lens Review

Handling and features This ultra wide angle prime lens for the Fuji X-Pro1 interchangeable lens camera provides a field of view equivalent to a 21mm lens on a 35mm camera, sports a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and costs around £770.

Plenty fast, great bokeh

For those of you trying to decide between the 14mm f/2.8 and the new 16mm f/1.4 I say this: When I reach for an Ultra-Wide, I'm not going for super buttery background blur. I'm also not particularly interested in shooting Ultra-Wide portraits.

Poor resolution and image quality wide-open, not so bad stopped down

The other two reviews seem a bit too enthusiastic, and based on my experience this is nowhere near a 5-star lens. To document just how flawed it is, I'll attach two photos. One is at f/2.8, the other at f/5.6.
