another winner from Fuji

This is my second lens for my X-e1, after the wonderful 18-55mm zoom. It's sharp, almost a given with Fuji lenses I think, and the distortion, considering its a 14mm lens is quite minimal. I love the new sliding auto/manual focus ring and the hyper focus scale makes street photography easer.

Low Distoration; Sharp

Falloff of illumination towards the corners can be quite pronounced

Fujinon XF 14mm f/2.8 R (Fujifilm) - Review / Test Report

The Fujinon XF 14mm f/2.8 R is a highly attractive ultra-wide lens with few shortcomings. The most important factor for an ultra-wide lens is certainly image sharpness and the Fujinon delivers here. It is bitingly sharp in the image center and good to very good in the outer image region.

The XF 14mm F2.8 R is a relatively rare example of a genuinely wideangle, high quality prime lens for any camera type other than full frame SLRs. The closest comparisons lie with the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm 1:2 for Micro Four Thirds and Pentax's smc DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited for its APS-C...

Extremely sharp across the frame at normal working apertures (F5.6 - F11; Minimal distortion; Minimal chromatic aberration; Well-implemented manual focusing; Quiet autofocus; Solid construction

Soft corners at F2.8; Moderately strong vignetting at F2.8 (corrected by camera's JPEG processing; Loose click-stops on aperture ring; No way of combining manual focus and autofocus; Slowish autofocus; Expensive

Fujifilm XF 14mm F2.8 R review

The XF 14mm F2.8 R is a solid, well-made lens that sports traditional aperture and manual focus rings. It's not bad at F2.8 and offers excellent image quality stopped down, where superb cross-frame sharpness and minimal distortion make it ideal for architectural and landscape work.

Fujifilm X system owners looking for a high-quality wide angle prime for architecture, landscapes etc.;

Users who require cross-frame sharpness at F2.8;

Great lens with unique manual mode

Well constrctucted, optically great lens. Small, but hefty, nice wide angle. Fast, I like fast. I really like the way you snap the focus ring back and forth to engage and disengage manual focusing. AF works well for a Fuji X camera, (not good at AF). Love the lens.

Optics; speed; and construction

Some people thing it is an issue that the lens converts to manual mode differently is a issue; I don't
