super little lens

a must have lens for your kit bag - small, well made, sharp throughout, quick to focus. Hard to find fault and is ideal when used with the D800 Far superior to the other 50mm in my bag the f1.8 AF-S

Lightweight; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Wrong item shown in the picture

The price seems to match the description "f/1.4D", but the picture shown is of the costly "f/1.4G". This is misleading as the small difference in letter is easy to miss while most people would look at the picture and price. Please change the picture to show the correct one!

Fine prime lens for FX Nikon

Needed a fast prime lens for my FX and this one works great. It's compact and lightweight and fits in your pocket, so if you need the extra speed and the convenience of easy carry, get this lens.

Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Lightweight; Many Nikkon Lenses; Nice Bokeh; Nikon Dx; Nikon Fx; Strong Construction

Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF Nikkor review by dw_js

I purchased this lens new. It was very soft from wide open to F8. Usable from 11 to 16. Maybe I had a bad copy but this was the worst Nikon lens I ever owned. Returned it within days. This copy was made in China. I don't know if that makes a difference in the build/optical quality.

has an aperture ring

soft; soft soft

Small - Light - Fast - Sharp lens

If you have a D90 (or any camera which has the SWM) it's a brilliant buy and value for money. You won't regret it! It's pretty quick and good for low light shots as well. It's a good lens for portrait / product photography.

Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D Lens Review

Handling and features Performance Verdict Specification This standard 50mm prime lens is a popular used buy, but still available new for a reasonable discount over Nikon's latest 50mm f/1.4G. New it can be picked up for around £240, or £150 or less if buying used.

Good sharpness in the centre at maximum aperture; Outstanding sharpness when stopped down; A good value used buy; Decent enough build quality

Screw-driven focus; Soft with falloff at f/1.4; Basic design lacks luxuries of more modern lenses

Awesome lens for portrait. Cheaper than the new G version

Excellent lens for portrait. Very sharp. I like the bokeh of it. It is just a bit noisy when autofocusing. Works fine with Nikon D80 (apparently it is not compatible with older DSLR).

Good Portrait And Night Photography...

There are plenty of great, maybe better, lenses on the market. I chose the 50mm f/1.4D because for me, it is a versatile lens to an extent. It is a prime lens, therefore one cannot zoom in (for those of you not familiar or new to prime lenses.
