If you have a D90 (or any camera which has the SWM) it's a brilliant buy and value for money. You won't regret it! It's pretty quick and good for low light shots as well. It's a good lens for portrait / product photography.

I LIKE THE LENS FOR MULTIPLE REASONS. IRECOMEND A LENSE FILTER TO PROTECT THE LENS. i THINK IS PURPOSE IS GOOD FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SHOTS, PORTRAINTS, MOVEMENT AND MUCH MORE.

I purchased this lens new. It was very soft from wide open to F8. Usable from 11 to 16. Maybe I had a bad copy but this was the worst Nikon lens I ever owned. Returned it within days. This copy was made in China. I don't know if that makes a difference in the build/optical quality.

The price seems to match the description "f/1.4D", but the picture shown is of the costly "f/1.4G". This is misleading as the small difference in letter is easy to miss while most people would look at the picture and price. Please change the picture to show the correct one!

Fast lens. Great bokeh. Soft focus at wide open. Sharpens at f4 and up. Feels more solid than the (equivalent) new G lens.

Superb value, produces stunning, pro quality images. Light, compact lens, works in low light. If you do not have a prime/fixed lens then the difference is huge. Of course it is limited to one focal range but the quality outweighs this and great for learning to move your feet and think more about...
