The 80-200/2.8 is one of the joys of the Nikon system and is mandatory for any serious user. It is almost as sharp and contrasty as the Nikon prime lenses in the 80-200 range. The constant aperture makes it convenient to use with studio strobes.

A cheaper and a really good alternative to the newer Nikon 70-200mm lenses - Using with D7000

I was a little skeptical about using this lens with the D7000. I have used it for around two days now (around 300 photos). I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. The focus is sufficiently fast and the images are tack sharp when shot at a higher shutter speeds. Amazing bokeh.

A Review for the Nikon Nikkor AF 80-200MM F2.8 D ED Lens

I just recently purchased this lens and got the slides back today. A very impressive telephoto zoom with very sharp contrasty results. I was actually trying to win a AFS-80-200MM F2.8 on Ebay recently but lost out. Decided to buy this one new. I don't regret doing so.

ED glass; Sharpness

A bit heavy but not bad

Professional Quality Shots

I purchased this lens a few months ago for my D7000. It is everything that I had hoped for and more. The lens is crisp at any aperature and focal length. The focus speed on the D7000 is fast and tracks well on moving objects.

Quality

Will not autofocus on D3000; D3100; D5000 and D5100

I bought this lens to use at the rink for Hockey and Figure Skating. The results are really impressive. Hand holding this baby is a bit hit and miss, you really need a monopod. The auto focus is fast and the images are sharp. If you want to get professional results this lens is a must have.

This is the s***! I've had a Canon EF 80-200/2.8L and a Sigma EX 70-200/2.8 HSM previous to this lens and it kicks the other lenses butts. Hard. It's sharp, it's fast and it's built like a Abrams M1 tank. What more could you ask for The A/M-ring is made of plastic and is easy to break.

Sharp; fast; color rendering (is that the correct expression

Plastic A/M-ring

Love this lens, sharp @ f/2.8, great bokeh, accurate AF. Great value. Would love the AF-S version which is meant to be better but cannot justify the significant additional investment for just faster AF.

Lovely optics; build quality

AF's not a rocket ship; but on a D300 no slouch either! That's all mind

Awesome

This is a great lens. Sure it is heavy, but that is why I bought a monopod. Great results! I take it with me when I go on walks along the river. I use it at weddings to get "the shot" without being seen. I have used it my son's basketball games and will use it during baseball this summer.
