Prime lenses are a dangeorusly expensive addiction. From the moment you snap one onto your SLR/DSLR, fire off a shot, and revel in the Barry White smooth BOKEH , you're hooked. As a matter of fact, just leave the ultra-wide zooms at home.
I selected this lens over the 35/1.4 for my full frame. I love the wide angle and there is zero distortion! I'm still learning how to focus with this lens as it's not swift at it but I knew that before I purchased it. It is just going to take some practice.
High quality lens with great depth of field
Strong learning curve; It is not a fast focus lens
Nikon's latest wide angle prime sports a bright maximum aperture of f/1.4, silent focusing and Nano-Crystal coatings.
Excellent optical quality; Fast focusing; Superb build quality
Occasionally struggles to focus accurately enough for use at f/1.4; Slight barrel distortion; Pricey
The most obvious reasons to buy this wideangle Nikon lens hinge on its ultra-fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, which offers unparalleled low-light capabilities and the ability to record a narrow depth-of-field despite the sweeping angle-of-view that a 24mm lens provides.
There is no doubt that the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED lens is a very high-quality piece of gear. Build quality is up there with the very best of its current stablemates, while optical performance is superlative.
This lens works in such low light conditions that it sees more than the naked eye can in the dark. Mounted on a tripod it is incredible what this lens can do at night. Daylight shots are top notch and will make every image look professional. This is an artist's lens.
While I hope to create a full Nikon 24mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information and...
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Consistent Output; Rugged
My lust for this lens began last spring, when I tested it at Nikon's Ginza showroom in Japan. I promised myself I would own this beauty in the not too distant future. Fast forward five months and I finally got the lens in hand. Honestly, I did run into some focus issues.
