Nikon AF-S 24mm f/1.4G

The most obvious reasons to buy this wideangle Nikon lens hinge on its ultra-fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, which offers unparalleled low-light capabilities and the ability to record a narrow depth-of-field despite the sweeping angle-of-view that a 24mm lens provides.

REVIEW: Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED

Nikon's latest wide angle prime sports a bright maximum aperture of f/1.4, silent focusing and Nano-Crystal coatings.

Excellent optical quality; Fast focusing; Superb build quality

Occasionally struggles to focus accurately enough for use at f/1.4; Slight barrel distortion; Pricey

Amazing Depth of Field!

I selected this lens over the 35/1.4 for my full frame. I love the wide angle and there is zero distortion! I'm still learning how to focus with this lens as it's not swift at it but I knew that before I purchased it. It is just going to take some practice.

High quality lens with great depth of field

Strong learning curve; It is not a fast focus lens

Nikon's Ultimate Wide-Angle Lens

Prime lenses are a dangeorusly expensive addiction. From the moment you snap one onto your SLR/DSLR, fire off a shot, and revel in the Barry White smooth BOKEH , you're hooked. As a matter of fact, just leave the ultra-wide zooms at home.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED Lens JAA131DA review

At $2,200, the expectations for this lens have to be high. The 24mm ƒ/1.4G almost reaches them. Certainly, stopped down, the lens produces exceptional results, but as the main feature of the lens is its extremely wide aperture - ƒ/1.4 - we imagine the lens will spend much of its time here,...

Wow.

"I just picked this lens up today, and I'm still blown away how sharp it is @ 1.4. Although there is noticeable fringing, it's nothing that can't corrected in PP. Otherwise, it focuses quicker and quieter than any lens I've ever used.

As good as it gets

I've owned this lens for over a year now, and I'm still positively surprised every time I look at 1:1 magnification of a shot taken with it - the sharpness of this gem is breathtaking. But the sharpness is only the beginning.

The best 24mm lens available

This lens is very expensive and really a speciality lens, but if you need it or have a use for it its the best 24mm lens on the market. Ultra sharp right from wide open at f1.4, at f2.8 its sharper than Nikon's 14-24 and Nikon's 24-70.

Accurate focus; Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Quick Focus; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

The most awesome focal length for FX landscapes, and the next most awesome on DX (1.5x 24mm =36mm) . I doubt anything better will be made in the next 50 years.

Optical quality at all apertures (sharpness, colour rendition, bokeh, resistance to flare); Lightweight; Perfect for night lanscapes and astrophotography; Really good on DX for pet photos

Price; 1800 euros, really; Oww, hurts
