The Nikon AF-S 28mm f/1.8G gives a wide field of view but keeps the weight off...
Bring a dramatic wide-angle perspective to your still and HD video shooting. The AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G's fast maximum aperture lets you create in nearly any light-dusk to dawn, indoors or out-and offers outstanding depth-of-field control.
I really thought long and hard over this one. All of the online reviews indicated that this was a questionable lens with issues. I then noticed that virtually all of those reviews were from 2012. The recent reviews were much better.
This is one of my favorite lenses in the collection. I often use it with my Nikon D7200 since I really like the field of view and perspective of this lens on a cropped sensor. It focuses super fast, silent, and accurate.
Fast, light Prime lens, fairly sharp wide open in the centre of frame; Nice bokeh for 28mm focal length
A little soft wide open in corners but worse than that it has bad focus shift as well as bad field curvature, combine all of these together & ultimately it means that the lens was a bit of a let down for me; Have tried many copies all the same
I love the feel, look and how quiet this lens is. Superb on the D800. Fast, accurate and images are sharp and beautiful in tone and contrast. I'm not a zoom lens type gal so this lens fits so many needs from landscape, to portraits...its just wonderful!
I was in one of my favorite camera stores buying a new Nikon V1 for my gal when feeling a little under the weather, I started looking at glass. Spending can perk me up. Wink I'd been casually thinking about this new 28 f/1.8G for a couple of months but was a little worried about the reports of focus...
Very sharp and contrasty on my D700, D3S and D800. Crystal clear rendition with no color cast.
Almost too light weight for a $700 lens if that's possible.
Wow. What a wonderful lens this is. This is one of Nikons best quality wide angle lenses designed for full frame but is equally good on a crop sensor Nikon DSLR. The sharpness from centre to edge is outstanding at all apertures up to F11 and as usual the build quality is fantastic.
The Nikon 28mm f/1.8 wide angle lens is compact, optically superb, and great for nighttime hand held photography. Below are two photos taken at night, hand held, at a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second, an aperture of f/1.8, ISOs of 450 and 3200, Auto White Balance, and Matrix Metering.
