The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm F1.7 ASPH is a compact and lightweight prime lens for Micro Four Thirds camera bodies. It offers an equivalent focal length of 50mm in full-frame terms, and an equivalent maximum aperture of F3.4.

Field review: Panasonic Lumix G 25mm F1.7 ASPH - compact, affordable and capable

The Panasonic Lumix G 25mm F1.7 ASPH is a great choice for Micro Four Thirds shooters – especially those with Panasonic bodies – looking to score a well-priced, capable prime lens. It's compact, lightweight, and fast-to-focus. And optically, it should leave most users satisfied with its performance.

Casual photography, low-light work, and videography. Folks searching for a companion to their 'kit' lens. Anyone looking to travel light.;

Folks looking for optical perfection. Those looking to shoot at super-fast apertures.;

I have the LUMIX G7 and have been using my 12-60mm kit lens since I got it. I ordered this prime lens as it was highly rated, highly reviewed and I needed a prime for it. I was not disappointed. After just an hour or so of use, you really can see the quality of this lens shine.

Having long since promised myself I'd get a fast prime (with autofocus) after a few years of using a converted Canon FD lens, I was torn between the 25mm f1.7 and the Leica f1.4. I decided that discretion is the better part of my wallet and went with the f1.7 and I have to say it was a great choice.

Not a great lens for shooting video

This lens works okay on a tripod but is terrible during motion on a stabilizer. The 14-42mm works flawlessly. This one just produces shaky video footage that's just not usable. I'll keep this for day/night shots on a tripod under low light conditions.

Inexpensive

Did not meet expectations

Very good lens

For its price (I got it for $147.99) it's amazing. I know there are better lenses around within the same focal length and aperture range, but they would be at least x3 more expensive. No way they are 3 times better. It's sharp, fast, with beautiful bokeh. I would buy it again for this price.

Great bit of kit

I bought this to supplement the standard lens with my Olympus OM DEM10. My plan was to use it for some portrait shots, but I haven't as yet. I have had brilliant results,though, with architecture shots- the lens gives crisp detail on subject in focus, and beautiful bokeh in the background.
