Philips Hue Motion Sensor Review

Designed for indoor use, the Philips Hue Motion Sensor ($39.99) will turn your Hue smart lights on when it detects motion and turn them off after a specified period of inactivity. This small, battery-powered sensor installs in minutes and lets you control up to three rooms that are illuminated by Hue lighting. You’ll need a Hue Bridge to use it and it can only directly control Hue lights, but you can create routines to have it work with devices that are connected to your Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, or Google Assistant smart home ecosystem, expanding its functionality beyond just light bulbs. Small and Easy to Install The Hue Motion Sensor is a white plastic square that measures 2.1 by 2.1 by 1.1 inches (HWD) and weighs just 0.14 pound. The front holds a round motion sensor lens, an ambient light sensor, and an LED status indicator that blinks orange during setup, blinks green when the sensor has been identified, emits a short orange flash when the battery is low, and emits a long...

An extremely neat and very clever piece of kit

Tiny, well designed and good-looking. Battery-operated, so no need to wire in, can therefore be placed anywhere (even in another room to the light/s you're controlling) and the battery will apparently last a couple of years. Highly-configurable, for both time of day, motion and daylight sensitivity.

Works well as part of a whole system.

If you commit to the Philip's Hue lighting system then this is the addition that makes it all work Easy to set up and works well 95% + of the time. Without this sensor, the Hue lights are a waste of time. This motion detector makes sense of the whole idea of auto lighting in the home.

Was wary due to it's price, glad I took the risk

I don't write reviews much so I'll keep it short. If you want this, get it. It's worth the money, at first I wasn't sure with the Philips Hue Bulb B22 A60 White & Colour Ambiance it adds up in price, but its worth it. No regrets here!

It works well, easy to set up. Only negative is the operation. One the motion detected and your duration for no motion detection reach it turns the lights off instead of return it default. It is anoying when your lights are on.

Fantastic!

Very small, neat and discreet. Have one on the landing and one in the kitchen. Recommended for high traffic areas. Will be buying a couple more. Easy to mount with the supplied screw. Can be placed on the wall or ceiling and adjusted for both motion and daylight sensitivity.
