I owned more than a dozen cameras of different makes and models, including several other SONYs. My last purchase was a SONY DSC-HX400V which I was the proud owner for two and a half years, during which time it ran smoothly.

Takes amazing pictures!!!! I am a total armature photographer and just wanted a nice quick point and click camera. I tried the Cannon Quick Shot camera but the photos were horrible, blurry and out of focus, I am an armature photographer but know how to operate a basic camera.
Bought last month and used a few times since. Camera was as expected but I chose also on the basis of the WiFi connection for ease of downloading while on holiday. The info provided is particularly poor and took me almost a week to finally get it working by researching a myriad of chat rooms.
The Sony HX400V is a bridge camera, which means it sits somewhere between a compact and SLR. However, these days there are so many cameras that occupy this territory that it feels less like a bridge and more a spaghetti junction.
I bought this camera on the spur of the moment because the demonstration seemed great. On reflection I should have done more research! As many I don't know much about cameras and since they've become digital and there are so many I'm totally confused.
Lots of impressive features but image quality from the Sony HX400V is unexceptional

I love it! I've only been using this camera for about 2 weeks now and I can say I am so amaze of the image quality of this camera. It does everything and the zoom range is awesome. I strongly recommend Sony and Crutchfield to anyone looking for a great digicam.
Pros: The mega zoom is amazing; I'm very pleased with this camera so far
Cons: The lens cap has no string; attached to it; it's easy misplace
