Scanning pictures so far, I do intend on scanning negatives and slides also. I am starting to understand the software a little better now. Good results so far.

Hoping that this HP product lasts longer than their usual 13 month lifespan - conking out just after the guarantee expires like their printers - I have a pile of them!
This works pretty good with a Computer running XP, but not very well if you have a newer computer running 7. Why this is, I don't know. HP ought to fix it! You may wind up spending hours with tech support with no real fix. I expect a scanner to do two things: 1. scan docs into .pdf, and 2.
The HP Scanjet G3110 Photo Scanner ($99 direct) is both more and less than you might expect. It's more because it offers what sounds like a lot of capability for the price-4,800-pixel-per-inch (ppi) optical resolution and the ability to scan up to four 35mm slides at once, or one strip of 35mm film...
Does a reasonably good job with photographic prints; Convenience scanning for slides and strips of film
Slow; Customizing settings is cumbersome
A flatbed scanner with a transparency and negative adapter built into its lid will normally cost you over £100, but HP's Scanjet G3110 beats this price by over 10 percent and looks good into the bargain.
Straight to PDF scan; Quick OCR conversion; Colour restoration and dust removal
Slow scans; even for price; Driver installation glitch; OCR not that accurate
This product does a good job of scanning slides, except when they are quite dark. I usually scan them by themselves and then can solve the problem.. It is also nice to not to have to put a mask on the flatbed to scan slides. I t also does a good job with photos.
Wait a few years for an upgrade or use your All-in-one printer
Theoretical resolution
Speed; quality of scans; Mac compatibility
its nice
The HP Scanjet G3110 is a flatbed scanner with a built-in transparency adaptor suitable for small slide and film scanning projects. The scanner features an optical resolution of 4800dpi and 48-bit colours.
Comments about HP Scanjet G3110 Photo Scanner: I purchased it to digitize slides which it does well. The OCR also is very accurate and works well.
Accurate Color; Easy Setup; Excellent Software; Good Bit Depth; Good Resolution
