Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED VR II - Review / Test Report

In this review we will have a look at how the VR II version of the lens performs on our current DX test camera, the Nikon D7000. The build quality is good, but clearly lower than professional grade Nikkor lenses.

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II

I think this is a good option if your not a fan of swapping, changing and carrying a bunch of different lenses. An all in one solution that covers you for a wide variety of photographic subjects. This lens performs best in bright conditions.

Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR II

The Nikkor DX 18-200mm VR II is an 11.1x super-zoom lens designed for Nikon's range of DX format DSLRs. Announced in July 2009, it's the update to one of the most popular lenses for the Nikon system, now equipping it with better protection against zoom creep, where the lens barrel can inadvertently...

Very flexible and convenient 11.1x zoom range; Optical stabilisation with four stops of compensation; Quiet autofocusing on all Nikon bodies; Decent build quality and zoom-lock switch

The most expensive super-zoom for cropped bodies; Suffers from zoom creep between 28 and 135mm; Suffers from zoom-shrinkage at close range; Beaten on price and quality by twin lens solutions

Do not trust yet

I planned on using this product to shoot weddings but I have not learned to trust this lens yet. It does not always communicate with my Nikon D80. It often causes a computer reading problem in the camera and I have to take the lens off and put it back on again to get it to communicate with the...

An good all-in-one lense for Nikon D7000.

I changed my 18-105 lense into this one. It's an ideal lense to shoot different things without changing the lense. The size and weight are just ok for D7000, while the 18-300 lense is extremely big, heavy and expensive. Now I only use this one and the 35 1.8G to shoot almost everything.

Excellent all purpose lens

If you want one lens for 90% of your shots, this is it. Sharp, solidly made, an excellent range without being too extreme & Nikon's fantastic VR. Well worth the money.

Absolutely the best accompaniment to a lightweight DSLR

Absolutely the best accompaniment to a lightweight DSLR. Haven't used either of my other two lenses since this arrived. Sharp images with very little distortion or aberation across the whole range.

Not happy with Customer service

Though I am very happy with the product, I am not happy with the customer service. When I placed the order I was told that the product is in stock and and also I got the free 2 day shipping deal. The very next day, I got notification saying that it is out of stock.

Easy To Use; Improves Picture Quality
