This lens is head to head with the Sigma Sport 15-600mm. However, it handles much better than the Sigma, which is nose heavy at 600mm. I have been using the G2 Tamron since its introduction and it is my standard birding lens on my Nikon D500, hardly ever use anything else.

The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 is a very good lens. For the money, it's a great lens. It's very sharp throughout its range, has effective image stabilization, quick autofocus, and is relatively light and handholdable for a lens of its focal length.

This lens does NOT produce images that are as sharp as (for example) the "industry standard" 70-200 f/2.8 Nikon lens, but it does produce a very good, very usable, sharp image. purchased this unit in good faith, having been reassured by Amazon.ca that the unit was able to register for Tamron Warranty Registration, well it CAN NOT, this is a "gray marketed" unit,,, "Centre Drone" is not an authorized dealer of Tamron products.

Still testing it but it looks great so far. I am happy with the reach and bouquet. Heavy, but not much. Good construction. I like that it comes with the tripod collar.

I tend to travel on the wide side when it comes to lens selection, so it was exciting to get a hold of Tamron's new super telephoto zoom-the SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 (Model A022). And what better way to give this big beauty a try than to take it on safari?

Pros: For the price of this lens, it is an amazing lens! What a super value! Excellent for sports and wildlife. Let me say, I am truly impressed with the quality and speed of this lens. I shoot Canon, and have a 600 prime lens.
